Division Information

Instructional Division (K, 1st & 2nd Co- Ed)

Our K – 1st and 2nd grade co-ed division is strictly instructional with the emphasis on learning and fun. The coach is part of the games and serves as a teaching tool. He/she will stand at the free throw lane area and be available for the players to pass him the ball. This will enable the coach to distribute the ball to all players at some point in the game. We also advise our coaches to “coach” their players to “move somewhere” when they pass the ball to the coach. This is a very important concept that is taught to all players of any age. Emphasis is placed on fundamentals in ball handling, dribbling, passing, and shooting skills. Defense is very basic man-to-man concepts. All players get a chance to score for their teams’ as all players will shoot free throws during the half time of their games. There is an official at each game that will make very obvious calls and serve to keep the games flowing in a timely manner. There are no standings kept for these divisions and all players will receive a participation award at the end of the season. These games are normally scheduled on Saturdays at the same site. Depending on our enrollment, we will split this division into a K – 1 division and a 2nd grade division. Teams are formed with emphasis placed on the child’s school he/she attends, or at a parent’s request. Coaches will have their child placed on their team. Practices are determined by the coach and usually are scheduled at an indoor facility once a week.
